South Korean President Lee Jae-myung instructed relevant ministries on the 6th to discuss whether to join the Japan-led Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership without fixing a conclusion, without rushing, and starting from scratch. The presidential office released the remarks made at a cabinet meeting. Lee noted that amid drastic changes in the international trade order, there are views that the CPTPP's strategic value is important, as well as views that concerns in the agricultural and fisheries sectors are very large. He indicated that gaining the trust of agricultural and fisheries operators is important when considering joining.
