SharkNinja, Inc.Smith+Nephew has announced the commercial launch in Europe of CARTIHEAL AGILI-C, its innovative cartilage repair implant, with the technology set to be presented at the International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society Summit in Porto, Portugal, from October 8 to 10. The implant, first introduced in the United States in 2024, is composed of aragonite, a natural calcium carbonate-based material, and acts as a biphasic scaffold that promotes cartilage and bone regeneration while helping to relieve pain. A multicenter randomized controlled trial recently published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine showed clinical superiority of CARTIHEAL AGILI-C over the surgical standard of care, with treated patients recording overall higher KOOS scores throughout follow-up of up to 60 months after surgery. The implant will initially be sold in Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with expansion to other European countries expected in the near future. Smith+Nephew, a global medical technology company founded in 1856 in Hull, United Kingdom, employs around 17,000 people, operates in about 100 countries and reported annual revenue of 6.2 billion dollars in 2025.
