Alibaba Group Holding is accelerating the expansion of its data centers in Europe and the Middle East as part of a global cloud and AI infrastructure buildout of 20 gigawatts, amid intensifying chip and AI model competition between China and the United States. Li Feifei, an Alibaba executive, said at the Apsara conference in Hangzhou on September 23 that Alibaba will launch cloud services in new regions for the first time in Turkey, Finland, and the Netherlands within the next 12 months. The company also plans to expand data centers in Malaysia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, France, and Hong Kong. Li, who serves as chief technology officer and president of the international business of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said Alibaba is committed to working closely with its global ecosystem of companies to make AI more scalable, practical, and accessible for businesses. This market push puts Alibaba in direct competition with Western rivals Amazon.com Group and Alphabet in regions beyond Asia.

SpaceX Seeks $40B Debt to Buy Nvidia Chips for Data Centers
SpaceX is seeking to issue $40 billion in new debt to purchase Nvidia chips for data centers, according to Bloomberg. The financing would be split into $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment grade debt, with Pimco reportedly looking at the deal and Apollo leading the financing. The company is said to be targeting a 2027 completion date for the raise. The debt would fund additional Nvidia hardware for SpaceX's Colossus 2 data center in Tennessee, which already runs 110,000 Nvidia GB200 chips and 440,000 Grace Blackwell 300s, with another 220,000 Grace Blackwell 300s coming online and a further 220,000 expected in November.
NTT DATA Opens AI Factory Munich for Production-Grade AI Testing
NTT DATA opened the NTT DATA AI Factory Munich, a live production-grade environment where clients can validate their own AI applications at scale before committing to broad deployments. The facility operates inside NTT Global Data Centers' Munich 2 Data Center, letting clients evaluate AI workloads against the infrastructure, security, data, governance and operational requirements they will face in production, rather than in a traditional demonstration or innovation lab. The AI Factory Munich draws on NTT DATA's consulting, infrastructure, AI platform, managed services and data center capabilities alongside partners including NVIDIA, which provides an accelerated computing platform with NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, and Dell Technologies, which provides a full-stack AI foundation of AI-optimized servers, storage and services through the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA. At the opening ceremony, client CxOs and other participants saw orchestration, sovereignty and data-residency controls in action, along with demonstrations of client use cases in banking, manufacturing and healthcare. The AI Factory Munich is part of NTT DATA's global network of client resources for exploring, developing and deploying advanced technologies, and is open to enterprise and public sector organisations by appointment through their NTT DATA account team or the company's website.

CoreWeave partners with AdaniConneX for first India data centers
CoreWeave Inc. announced it will establish its first data centers in India through a partnership with AdaniConneX Pvt., a joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX. The AI cloud-computing provider will utilize 240 megawatts of capacity at AdaniConneX's Taloja campus in Navi Mumbai, with an option to expand to 480 megawatts, and plans to open an office in India. The total investment is projected to reach multiple billions of dollars throughout the project's duration, with the first data centers scheduled to begin operations in mid-2028. CoreWeave will install Nvidia Corp. Vera Rubin chips at the facilities for tasks including training and operating models, managing reasoning functions, and supporting AI agents. The move follows CoreWeave's initial Asian entry in August with projects in Indonesia, and comes after CEO Mike Intrator said last month the company is largely sold out of capacity; CoreWeave reported approximately 4.2 gigawatts of contracted power in August.

Nvidia Tied to $40 Billion SpaceX AI Chip Push and OpenAI Ultrafast Model Win
Nvidia is set to benefit from a planned $40 billion SpaceX fundraising led by Apollo aimed at securing exclusive access to Nvidia chips. SpaceX is seeking US$40b in new capital to more than double its Nvidia-powered compute footprint for large scale AI and space data projects, effectively treating Nvidia as the default compute layer for those efforts. Separately, OpenAI has chosen Nvidia hardware over Cerebras to run its new Ultrafast AI model, reinforcing Nvidia's role in large model training and its full stack platform anchored by CUDA and TensorRT. The key test for investors is whether these headlines turn into disclosed, multi year capacity commitments that show up in data center segment demand and long term supply agreements, with concrete contract details from SpaceX and further large scale model deployments from OpenAI that explicitly reference new Nvidia platforms such as Blackwell or Rubin. The developments sit inside a wider build out of AI plumbing across data centers and cloud platforms.

SpaceX Seeks $40B Apollo-Led Financing for Nvidia Chips
SpaceX is reportedly seeking about $40B to finance a major Nvidia chip purchase, with Apollo Global Management expected to lead the financing. The package could include roughly $10B of bank loans and $30B of investment-grade debt, the Financial Times reported, adding another large financing commitment to the AI infrastructure buildout. Separately, David Ellison said technology will be central to Skydance's strategy following the completion of its $110B acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, noting in a memo obtained by Business Insider that technology is changing how content is created, distributed, and consumed. Constellation Energy jumped 12.2% Tuesday after announcing a 20-year power purchase agreement with Google tied to 890 MW of additional nuclear generation, lifting Talen Energy, Vistra, and NRG Energy by 12.4%, 10.7%, and 7%, respectively, while the State Street Utilities Select Sector SPDR rose 3%. Chevron agreed to sell interests in Hess Midstream and its DJ Basin crude midstream assets as it restructures related contracts, with revised Bakken agreements expected to cut midstream costs for its Bakken operations by roughly half. Ray Dalio warned the AI investment cycle is approaching a point where rising interest rates and heavy borrowing could trigger a reversal.
