Coffee prices retreated on Wednesday as the outlook for dry conditions in Brazil’s coffee-growing regions is expected to accelerate the country’s harvest. September arabica coffee closed down 5.45 cents, or 1.69%, while September ICE robusta coffee fell 22 dollars, or 0.58%, with robusta touching a two-week low. Rising inventories also weighed on robusta after ICE robusta inventories climbed to a four-month high. The harvest pressure comes despite supportive factors such as ICE arabica inventories falling to a two-and-a-quarter-year low of 320,615 bags and Brazil’s 2026/27 coffee harvest being only 64% complete as of July 15, behind last year’s 77% and the five-year average of 70%.
