Vietnam's National Statistics Office reported that Vietnam attracted a total of 50.36 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment, or FDI, in the first 9 months of 2026, up 76.4% year on year. During the period, 3,108 projects received new licenses, with total registered capital of 29.24 billion US dollars, 2.4 times higher than the same period last year. The manufacturing and processing sector accounted for the largest share of new registered capital at 13.38 billion US dollars, or 45.8%, followed by the transportation and warehousing sector at 5.14 billion US dollars. Singapore was the largest source of foreign investment in major newly registered projects, with 9.26 billion US dollars, followed by South Korea at 5.7 billion US dollars and Luxembourg at 4.99 billion US dollars. Disbursement of foreign direct investment reached 21.07 billion US dollars in the first 9 months, up 12.1% year on year, marking the highest actual disbursement level for a 9-month period in 5 years.
