Karnchang Public Company Limited, or CK, sold a block of 200 million shares in Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited, or BEM, at 6.50 baht per share, for a total value of 1.3 billion baht, on 24 September 2026. J.P. Morgan and Kiatnakin Phatra Securities acted as arrangers of the deal for institutional investors. The sale price was below the previous day's closing price of 6.95 baht, representing a discount of about 6.47%. Before the transaction, CK held approximately 6.459 billion BEM shares, or 42.26%. After deducting the shares sold in this transaction, its holding will fall to about 40.95%, equivalent to a sale of roughly 1.31% of all BEM shares. CK remains the largest shareholder. The goal of the deal is to increase the proportion of institutional investors in BEM rather than to signal that the company needs cash urgently. Meanwhile, the business relationship between CK and BEM continues, with BEM engaging CK to procure an additional 21 electric train cars and upgrade related electrical systems for the Blue Line electric train project, with a total value including value-added tax of approximately 7.2 billion baht.
