Clarivate has released the Journal Citation Reports 2026, providing metrics for 22,643 journals across 254 categories. The 2026 edition, reflecting 2025 data, includes 521 journals receiving a Journal Impact Factor for the first time, with 58% of those based outside the United States and Western Europe. Mainland China and the United States remain the most represented regions, accounting for 48% of author affiliations, while Global South author affiliations increased 6% from 2024 and 10% from 2023. The reports continue to offer a range of indicators beyond the Journal Impact Factor, including the field-normalized Journal Citation Indicator, to support responsible journal evaluation.
