General Dynamics has promoted Doug Ritter and Erica Striebel to co-vice presidents of government relations, reshaping its Washington leadership following the planned departure of Senior Vice President Betsy Schmid. Ritter and Striebel, previously staff vice presidents, will report to Shane Berg, who now holds the expanded role of senior vice president for external affairs. Chairman and CEO Phebe Novakovic highlighted their decades of Capitol Hill experience and the trust they have earned inside and outside government. Schmid, who became senior vice president in June 2024 after joining the company in 2015, has informed the company of her intention to leave. Ritter has been with General Dynamics since 2005, while Striebel joined in 2017, and both previously served as chiefs of staff to members of Congress.
