Summary · why it matters

IFF has released new research showing that GLP-1 medication use is significantly reshaping food choices and eating behaviors among Indian consumers. The study, based on research conducted among GLP-1 users in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, found that 74% read food labels more carefully, 64% experience social eating discomfort at least occasionally, and 69% are choosing coconut water as part of their hydration habits. Consumers are eating smaller portions, with examples including moving from three to four chapatis to one or two, and from five or six idlis to two. The report also found that 90% experience changes in how food tastes or feels, and 50% prefer soft, easy-to-digest textures. While personal consumption habits are evolving, household purchasing patterns remain relatively stable, with 78% continuing to buy biscuits for their households and 71% continuing to buy packaged sweets and full-fat dairy products.
