J.P. Morgan upgraded Virtu Financial to Overweight from Neutral, sending the stock up 6.1% in Monday afternoon trading. Analyst Kenneth B. Worthington cited the combination of higher volumes in existing products and product and structural innovation as boosting Virtu's opportunity to participate in markets and grow revenue. He raised his 2026 adjusted EPS estimate to $7.26 from $7.23, against a consensus of $7.30, and lifted his 2027 adjusted EPS estimate to $7.52 from $6.65, against a $7.00 consensus, while introducing a 2028 adjusted EPS estimate of $9.00 versus a $7.05 consensus. Worthington pointed to new structures such as perpetual futures, predictive markets, and tokenization as giving market makers like Virtu more opportunities to trade in existing asset classes, benefiting both volumes and profitability. He also noted that equity grew 42% year over year in 2Q26, up from 14% growth a year earlier, while trading capital rose 53% year over year in 2Q26 versus 18% growth a year earlier, which he expects to drive adjusted net trading income growth.
