JPMorgan Chase & CoExecutive reshuffle removes a CEO contender and grants retention awards, but impact on performance is unclear.

JPMorganChase announced a major executive leadership reshuffle that removes Marianne Lake from the running to succeed CEO Jamie Dimon. Lake, a 27-year veteran and CEO of consumer and community banking since 2024, will retire from the bank. Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh, previously co-CEOs of the commercial and investment bank, have been named co-presidents of the $4.9 trillion-asset company effective immediately. Petno becomes sole CEO of the commercial and investment bank, while Rohrbaugh succeeds Lake as CEO of consumer and community banking. The bank also disclosed one-time retention awards of $30 million each for Petno and Rohrbaugh, and $20 million each for asset and wealth management CEO Mary Erdoes and COO Jennifer Piepszak.
