Longevica Therapeutics announced the formation of its Scientific Advisory Board, marking the preclinical biotech's pivot from foundational discovery to clinical execution and drug development. The company invested four years and $13 million in what it calls the world's largest in vivo mammalian screening program at The Jackson Laboratory, tracking 1,033 small-molecule compounds across more than 16,000 subjects over their natural lifespans. From that screen, 60-plus compounds extended mammalian lifespan by over 10% to 22%, and the company is now pursuing two novel classes of health-and-lifespan therapeutics alongside targeted drug repurposing for cardiovascular, metabolic, fibrotic, and systemic disease. The advisory board spans scientific, clinical, strategy, and business roles, including Dr. Steven Garan of UC Berkeley as Chief Scientific and Technology Advisor, Dr. Mike Zack as Chief Medical and Scientific Advisor, and Allan Gobbs of ATEM Capital as Corporate Strategy and Finance Advisor. The move follows the recent appointment of former Genentech, Roche, and NCI/NIH leader Dr. Prasun Mishra as Chief Executive Officer.

Animal Longevity Summit to hold first global scientific forum on healthy aging in animals
The Animal Longevity Summit has announced its inaugural two-day scientific conference, taking place October 1–2, 2026, in Toronto. The event will bring together leading experts in geroscience, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, and aging research to explore how the biology of aging can be measured, slowed, and translated into longer, healthier lives, beginning with animals. The summit arrives as landmark initiatives such as the Dog Aging Project and a growing number of veterinary clinical trials generate the first large-scale datasets on interventions to improve healthspan and longevity in companion animals. The conference program will feature eight scientific tracks covering canine longevity, comparative biology of aging, biomarkers, longevity interventions, veterinary geroscience, cross-species translation to human health, and emerging research from early-career scientists. The inaugural speaker lineup includes Dr. Matt Kaeberlein of the Dog Aging Project, Dr. Vera Gorbunova of the University of Rochester, Dr. Aubrey de Grey of the LEV Foundation, Dr. Varun Dwaraka of TruDiagnostic, Liz Parrish of BioViva, and Dr. Raghav Sehgal of Yale, with additional speakers to be announced. Industry participation is also expected, with Genflow Biosciences confirming it will present new findings from its SLAB study investigating gene therapy in aged beagles.
