Sphere Entertainment Co.Metallica's 24-show heavy-metal residency at Sphere Las Vegas is expected to boost the profile and draw audiences to Sphere Entertainment's venue.

Metallica opened its Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere Las Vegas this week, the first residency from a heavy-metal band at the venue. The 24-show engagement is built around the band's "No Repeat Weekend" format, meaning its Thursday and Saturday performances will feature entirely different setlists, and the run is scheduled to conclude on March 13, 2027. Reviews of the opening night, performed in front of 17K fans, were very positive across media sites and social media, with James Hetfield telling the crowd, "This is a dream come true and beyond." Metallica is also celebrating its 45th anniversary as a band later this month. Analysts think the exposure to a different genre will help boost the profile of Sphere Entertainment's main entertainment venue, and shares of Sphere Entertainment rose 2.7% in early Friday trading.
