Morningstar, Inc. announced it will relocate its global headquarters to Chicago's Thompson Center, occupying more than 275,000 square feet in the city's largest downtown office transaction in 2026 to date, with a planned move in late 2028. The company, which has been headquartered in Chicago for more than 40 years and employs over 1,500 people there, will co-anchor the building with Google at 171 N. LaSalle Street. Alongside the move, Morningstar plans to donate $5 million over five years to Chicago nonprofits starting in 2027, comprising $1 million, or $200,000 each year, to the Commercial Club Foundation and $4 million, or $800,000 each year, in targeted grantmaking administered by the United Way of Metro Chicago through the newly established Morningstar Commitment to Chicago Fund. The community investment focuses on securing financial futures and career skills advancement for Chicagoland residents.
