Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd. has resumed operations at the Kavango West 1X Sidetrack discovery well in Namibia, with the Jarvie-1 rig back at work ahead of a planned horizontal flow test. Flow test samples from the Huttenberg and Elandshoek formations indicate thermogenic gas with liquid potential and maturities ranging from late oil to early gas. All regulatory amendments have been submitted, and subject to approval, horizontal drilling of a wellbore of up to 1,000 metres could begin as early as October and take approximately one month, with flow testing to immediately follow. In Angola, preliminary soil sampling results from the MOU acreage suggest an active thermogenic petroleum system with liquid content potential, similar to the plays on PEL 73 in Namibia, with a 2D seismic program possibly in 2027. In Gabon, 3D seismic reprocessing at Ngulu is expected to be complete by year-end, alongside a commissioned resource report and selection of appraisal well locations for the Loba oil discovery.
