Sompo has appointed Henry MacHale as Chief Underwriting Officer and Head of Strategy for its International Markets insurance business, which spans 22 countries across the UK, Asia-Pacific, Continental Europe including Turkey, and Brazil. In the newly created role, MacHale will work with regional underwriting leaders to drive performance, set global underwriting policy, and implement pricing and risk control frameworks, while also partnering with regional CEOs to shape strategy and pursue organic and inorganic growth. He joins from Aspen, where he was Group Chief Strategy Officer, and will be based in London reporting to International Markets CEO Alessa Quane. Quane highlighted MacHale's track record in specialty underwriting and strategic leadership as key to strengthening underwriting performance, governance, and regional alignment.
