Meta Platforms Inc.Threads reaches 500M monthly users, indicating strong user growth and engagement for Meta's platform.

Meta's Threads has reached 500 million monthly users, marking progress toward Mark Zuckerberg's 1 billion-user goal set three years ago. The milestone suggests the platform is gaining stronger footing after its 2023 launch. Growth has been supported by Meta's broader app ecosystem, especially Instagram, though head of Threads Connor Hayes noted more users are now going directly to Threads, indicating it could be becoming a destination rather than just a feed-driven discovery product. The app has gained traction in Korea, where total app time spent rose more than 80% from a year earlier, and BTS joined over the weekend, quickly attracting more than 4.2 million followers. Hayes also pointed to politics as a possible driver of relevance, noting that an election helped make Threads popular in Taiwan.
