Serica Energy Declares Pharos Energy Takeover Bid Final as Ratio Raises Offer

Serica Energy has declared its offer for Pharos Energy final at 32.6683 pence per share, comprising 28.6683 pence in cash and a 4-pence special dividend, and will not increase it after rival Ratio Petroleum Energy raised its proposal. Ratio announced an increased offer on August 7 and said it had secured irrevocable undertakings covering about 41.76% of Pharos' issued share capital. Serica had entered the contest on July 26 with a recommended cash acquisition that surpassed an earlier Ratio transaction worth up to 28 pence per share. The company said its decision reflects a disciplined approach to mergers and acquisitions and that it continues to evaluate other opportunities in the UK North Sea and elsewhere. Pharos operates in Vietnam and Egypt with first-half 2026 working-interest production of about 5,650 barrels of oil equivalent per day, and generated $82 million in first-half revenue with $45.2 million of cash at the end of June.
PHAR.LSE · Capital · Positive Serica's final offer at 32.67p per share, including special dividend, is higher than Ratio's increased offer, potentially leading to a higher acquisition price for Pharos shareholders.
SQZ.LSE · Capital · Negative Serica declares its offer final and will not increase it, potentially losing the bidding war to Ratio Petroleum, which has secured irrevocable undertakings for 41.76% of Pharos.
Ratio Petroleum Energy LP · Capital · Positive Ratio's increased offer and secured irrevocable undertakings strengthen its position in the bidding war for Pharos, increasing its chances of winning the acquisition.

Atlantic Petroleum Says Orlando Field Production Ceases Permanently

Atlantic Petroleum announced that production from the Orlando Field has ceased permanently following a pump failure in May 2026. Operator Serica Energy determined that remedial work is not economically justified given the planned 2027 closure of the Ninian platform, and no further output is expected. Atlantic Petroleum holds an economic interest through royalty and deferred consideration arrangements from its 2017 sale of the field, and now expects the carrying value of those Orlando-related assets to be written down to near zero. The company will recognize a material impairment in its upcoming financial reporting, as the cessation ends the field's economic life materially earlier than previously assumed.
Atlantic Petroleum · Capital · Negative Expects material impairment on Orlando-related assets as carrying value written down to near zero.
SQZ.LSE · Supply · Negative Production ceases permanently due to pump failure and uneconomic remedial work, reducing output.

Jersey Oil & Gas secures six-month extension for Verbier licence

Jersey Oil & Gas has received approval from the North Sea Transition Authority to extend the second term of its P2170 Verbier licence by six months to 28 February 2027. The extension aligns the licence with the company's P2498 Buchan Horst licence, both located in the Greater Buchan Area, supporting an integrated Area Plan. The P2170 licence covers blocks 20/5b and 21/1d, operated by NEO NEXT+ ENERGY with a 50% stake, while Jersey Oil & Gas holds 20% and Serica Energy owns 30%. The joint venture partners are evaluating alternative production solutions after earlier plans to use the Western Isles FPSO were reconsidered due to market conditions, and a similar extension request for the Buchan licence will be submitted later this year.
SQZ.LSE · Regulation · Neutral Licence extension supports integrated plan but alternative production solutions still under evaluation.
