Most IT security talk is about "keeping the bad guys out." But the statistics are clear: sooner or later, someone gets in. So when that day comes — when attackers encrypt every file in the company and demand a ransom — how do you bring your systems back in hours, not weeks? This is the story of cyber resilience — accepting that you'll be hit, and preparing copies of your data that attackers can't encrypt and can't delete (immutable / air-gapped) so you can recover. Pair that with a "clean room" way to restore that doesn't drag the virus back in. The point isn't just defense — it's recovery — because the real damage isn't the ransom, it's the days the business stops running.

Coinbase to Build Quantum-Resistant Crypto Custody System
Crypto exchange Coinbase revealed by September 22 that it is developing a crypto custody system capable of supporting any post-quantum signature scheme blockchains may adopt in the future, in preparation for the risk of quantum computers cracking encryption. Yehuda Lindell, the company's head of cryptography, explained this in a video interview with the Mara Foundation. The company is upgrading its current custody infrastructure, which uses multi-party computation, so that it can withstand attacks by quantum computers, and is also considering an alternative approach using specialized devices called hardware security modules in case a signature scheme is adopted that multi-party computation cannot handle. According to the Mara Foundation, the company protects roughly 250 billion dollars' worth of digital assets centered on this system. On July 23, Coinbase explained on its official blog that its current key management system, CoreKMS, protects about 99.9 percent of its custodied assets, and that it is also developing a quantum-resistant version, PQ-CoreKMS, with plans to build an automated infrastructure within one year that can securely sign while distributing keys across multiple locations. Over the following two to three years, it aims to develop multi-party computation that does not require generating a complete private key even for quantum-resistant signatures.

Craneware Shares Fall 24% as Cyberattack and 340B Woes Force FY27 Reset
Craneware shares fell roughly 24% after the Edinburgh-based healthcare software group warned that revenue for the year ending June 2027 is now expected to be around $185 million, roughly in line with its annual recurring revenue base. The reset follows a broadly flat 2026 financial year, in which revenue came in at $206 million versus $205.7 million previously, adjusted EBITDA rose 3% to $67.1 million, the adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 33%, and statutory pretax profit rose 7% to $25.8 million. Annual recurring revenue barely moved at $185 million, while net revenue retention dropped to 100% from 107%. Management blamed growing regulatory uncertainty and increasingly complex requirements from pharmaceutical manufacturers in the US 340B drug-pricing market, which slowed the conversion of identified savings opportunities into transaction revenue. A July cyberattack, disclosed after the financial year ended, added a second blow: hackers gained unauthorized access to part of Craneware's data environment and extracted data, and although core operations continued without disruption and specialists confirmed systems are secure, the company is still determining what data was affected and notifying customers and regulators. Craneware finished the year with $54.8 million of cash and $156 million of undrawn borrowing facilities, and said it has adopted a more cautious planning basis for the next three years, including a comprehensive cost review, with FY27 now effectively a transition year.
NCSA Accelerates Cyber Resilience Push to Counter AI and Quantum Threats, Targets Quantum-Ready by 2030
The National Cyber Security Agency, or NCSA, has unveiled its direction for driving Thailand's cybersecurity, moving to clear out technology debt and elevate organisations toward Cyber Resilience in order to counter threats in the AI era, while setting a goal of bringing government agencies and critical information infrastructure, or CII, to quantum technology readiness, or Quantum-Ready, by 2030. Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary-General of the NCSA, said at an open talk stage hosted by OPEN-TEC, a technology knowledge hub under TCC Technology Group, that over the past 20 years IT systems were adopted rapidly without enough emphasis on security, resulting in Technology Debt, or accumulated vulnerabilities in legacy systems. The NCSA therefore proposed guidelines for raising cybersecurity through key principles, stressing that security must begin on day one of AI development, covering software and data use, model training, and post-deployment operations, alongside building Cyber Resilience that shifts from a prevention-only mindset to the ability to withstand, detect, respond to, and recover critical infrastructure systems such as energy, public health, transport, and financial services, as well as the Zero Trust principle, the Least Privilege principle, and public-private partnership. In addition, the NCSA has begun laying out guidelines to survey Cryptographic Libraries, upgrade Web Servers to support the TLS 1.3 standard, and plan a transition to quantum-resistant encryption systems, with the goal of bringing the public sector and key agencies to Quantum-Ready status by 2030. It is also organising the Thailand Cyber Top Talent activity to address the shortage of cybersecurity personnel and to exchange threat intelligence for early warning.

Boston Scientific Warns Cyberattack Will Break 2026 Guidance
Boston Scientific Corporation disclosed that an August 25 cyberattack disrupted manufacturing and shipping, making it unlikely to meet its previously issued third-quarter and full-year 2026 guidance for net sales and adjusted earnings per share. The company said operations have since resumed, but the incident is still expected to weigh on third-quarter and full-year results. The disruption did not stem from a product-quality problem; the lost sales were orders that could not ship, and distribution is already back online. Farapulse, Boston Scientific's pulsed-field-ablation system, still commands a major share of the US atrial-fibrillation market, though the company had already projected flat global electrophysiology growth for the second half of 2026 after lowering its market-share assumptions. Hedge fund holdings in BSX slipped to 99 in the second quarter of 2026 from 106 in the prior quarter, while short interest remains low at 1.9% of the float.

Synology Says ISO 27001 Becomes Foundation for Cyber Resilience in the AI Era
Synology has revealed that the ISO 27001 standard is shifting from being merely a compliance certificate to a crucial foundation for enterprise risk management, building cyber resilience in an era of intensifying cyber threats. Mr. Rahat Boontanjin, Country Manager for Thailand, stated that 72 percent of organizations worldwide see cyber risk as significantly increasing, and 71 percent of risk executives expect threats to severely impact business operations. He pointed out that the rise of agentic AI is creating new forms of risk, so organizations should use ISO 27001 as a control framework across four key areas: role-based data access permissions, data accuracy governance, rollback systems for AI errors, and continuous security measure improvements. Although a 2025 OpenText survey indicates that 52 percent of global organizations plan to increase investment in backup technology, many still face real-world system recovery failures. Synology has therefore launched the ActiveProtect Appliance, a solution designed to support cyber resilience approaches and the new era of ISO 27001, integrating immutable backup, logical air-gap, and automated backup verification technologies to close recovery gaps and help Thai organizations tackle cyber threats in the AI age.

Ransomhouse Hacker Group Claims Cyberattack on Nichirei, Disrupting Japan's Frozen Food Supply Chain
The hacker group Ransomhouse has claimed responsibility for a cyberattack on Nichirei Corporation, a major Japanese frozen food producer, which continues to disrupt its delivery systems. Nobuo Miwa, president of S&J Corp., said that Ransomhouse typically uses ransomware to steal corporate data and has posted a statement about the attack on the dark web, with the group believed to have ties to Russia. In its statement, Ransomhouse said it is waiting for Nichirei to respond and urged the company to make contact to prevent the release of confidential data. Nichirei disclosed today that it is aware of the hacker group's claims and will work with police and relevant authorities, but declined to provide further details, including whether it has received a ransom demand. Nichirei said some affected servers contain personal information, and the company is in the process of notifying those concerned. Kyodo News reported that the cyberattack occurred about a week ago, causing system failures at Nichirei that have impacted frozen food deliveries to numerous supermarkets and restaurants, including KFC Japan, while some school lunch programs have also been affected. KFC Japan said today that operations have returned to normal after earlier reducing operating hours to cope with the impact of Nichirei's system issues.

Coca-Cola Suspends U.S. Fairlife Production After Ransomware Attack
Coca-Cola has temporarily halted production at its Fairlife dairy facilities in the United States following a ransomware attack that disrupted the subsidiary's systems. The company disclosed in an SEC filing that an unauthorized party accessed Fairlife's systems in what it believes was a ransomware incident, and it is investigating with external cybersecurity specialists while law enforcement has been notified. The scope and impact are still being assessed, but product quality and safety have not been affected. U.S. production is paused while systems are restored, though Canadian operations continue normally. Coca-Cola, which acquired Fairlife in 2020 for roughly $7 billion, noted the brand generates more than $3 billion in annual sales and is a key growth business.
Cyberattacks shift from data theft to business disruption, experts warn
Defense expert Fumiichi Okuno points out that we have already entered a new phase that should be called cyber intelligence warfare. In 2025, 559 security incidents were publicly disclosed in Japan, with damage coming to light at a rate of 1.5 cases per day. A ransomware attack on Asahi Group halted shipments of Super Dry, and it took about five months to fully normalize operations. An attack on Askul caused its corporate services revenue to drop 95 percent year-on-year, with ripple effects on logistics for other companies such as Muji and Loft. Okuno argues that the essence of cyber intelligence warfare is to deprive the opponent of decision-making ability and paralyze social functions, and that the condensation and distillation of information by AI will determine victory or defeat.

Commvault Stock Shows Split Valuation: Cheap on Cash Flow, Expensive on Earnings
Commvault Systems' valuation picture is divided, with a discounted cash flow model suggesting the stock is 23.9% undervalued at an intrinsic value of about $193 per share, while its price-to-earnings ratio of 86.1 times stands well above the software industry average of 28.8 times and a tailored fair P/E estimate of 35.7 times. The company's latest twelve-month free cash flow of approximately $238.7 million and its AI-driven cyber resilience offerings, including a multiyear partnership with Microsoft Azure, support the constructive cash flow outlook. However, the elevated earnings multiple indicates that rich growth expectations are already priced in, and Commvault passes only two of six broader valuation checks. The key question is whether the company can translate its strategic positioning into sustained cash generation that justifies the current earnings premium.
