The Asian Development Bank, or ADB, has raised its forecast for Vietnam's economic growth to 7.8% in 2026 and 7.6% in 2027, reflecting stronger domestic demand, accelerating investment, and robustly expanding manufacturing. The 2026 forecast was revised up from 7.2% in July, and the 2027 forecast from 7%, according to the ADB's Asian Development Outlook report published on Wednesday, September 23. Shantanu Chakraborty, the ADB's country director for Vietnam, said Vietnam's strong performance in the first half of the year demonstrated the economy's resilience and potential, and stressed that Vietnam must manage the macroeconomy carefully to control inflation, protect financial stability, and accelerate structural reforms. Vietnam's state news agency reported, citing the General Statistics Office, that Vietnam's GDP grew 8.18% year on year in the first half of 2026, while the National Assembly has set a double-digit growth target for the full year.
