Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Public Company LimitedBAM launches a three-month debt payment suspension for flood-affected customers, a policy measure whose net effect on the company is unclear.

Bangkok Commercial Asset Management Public Company Limited, or BAM, has announced a three-month debt payment suspension measure to assist customers affected by flooding in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces. Dr. Raks Worakitpokatorn, Chief Executive Officer of BAM, said the company has accelerated surveys and data collection on affected customers so that assistance can be provided appropriately and quickly. The surveys cover both customers undergoing debt restructuring and customers who purchased BAM's non-performing assets on installment plans. BAM will assess damage and impacts on housing, workplaces, and the ability to carry on normal daily life before considering assistance guidelines based on each customer's level of damage and hardship on a case-by-case basis, so that customers have the time and opportunity to regain their footing during the recovery of their homes and livelihoods.
