Verra Mobility Names Jon Newhard CEO as Shares Fall 2.8%
Verra Mobility announced the appointment of Jon Newhard as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2026, sending shares of the traffic solutions company down 2.8% in the afternoon session. Newhard brings more than two decades of leadership experience in transportation and mobility, having previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Yunex Traffic GmbH. The stock was trading at $2.85, down 4.8% from the previous close. The move comes after Verra Mobility's shares dropped 72.7% four months ago when major customer Avis Budget Group terminated its service agreement effective September 2026; Avis accounted for over 10% of Verra Mobility's revenue in 2025, and the company now expects the termination to reduce annualized revenue by $135 million to $145 million and segment profit by $120 million to $125 million. Verra Mobility cut its full-year revenue forecast to a range of $985 million to $995 million, prompting downgrades from analysts at Deutsche Bank and Baird. The stock is down 87.3% since the beginning of the year and trades 88.5% below its 52-week high of $24.79 from October 2025.

Tesla Faces September 30 Deadline on Cybercab Federal Inquiry
Tesla must answer federal questions about its Cybercab certification by September 30, a deadline that puts its robotaxi ambitions under a regulatory spotlight. Shares were down approximately 3.0% at $360.69 at 11.26am ET on September 28. After Cybercabs entered service in Austin, NHTSA opened an inquiry into how Tesla certified a vehicle without traditional human controls, examining the company's technical data and its interpretation of federal safety standards; the inquiry has not established a violation. At $360.69, Tesla traded 7.87% above its $334.39 GF Value estimate. A response by September 30 may answer the regulator's questions, but investors still need evidence that Cybercab can clear scrutiny, scale production and attract paying riders.

Waymo to Launch Robotaxi Service in Singapore by 2028
Alphabet's Waymo will launch an autonomous, all-electric ride-hailing service in Singapore by 2028, marking the company's first entry into Southeast Asia, according to Reuters. An initial fleet of Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will arrive in the coming months, with trained specialists conducting manual driving through 2027 to train the Waymo Driver on local road geometry and monsoon weather before a planned public launch in 2028. Waymo is working directly with Singapore's Ministry of Transport and Land Transport Authority, and Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow publicly welcomed the company's entry. Waymo has completed more than 20 million fully autonomous rides, operates more than 500,000 weekly trips and raised $16 billion at a $126 billion valuation in February 2026. Transport Ministry teams up with Huawei to study technology and AI to upgrade Thai transport and logistics
The Ministry of Transport has joined hands with Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to study the feasibility of applying technology and artificial intelligence to upgrade Thailand's travel and logistics systems. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn gave David Li, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., along with a delegation of executives, the opportunity to meet to exchange knowledge and discuss ways to apply technology in line with the country's transport infrastructure, in order to improve safety, reduce the steps and time involved in travel and transport, and raise the level of service to the public. The ministry has assigned the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, together with the Department of Rail Transport, to work with Huawei and relevant agencies to set up a team to study the feasibility and define pilot projects, focusing on two main tasks: linking freight transport from the rail system to ports, or Rail-Port, and managing passengers and cargo in airport systems, or Passenger & Cargo, which will use AI and data analytics to help manage passenger flow and the handling of cargo in cargo areas. This approach builds on trials of technology in certain missions, such as using data analytics and AI systems to manage passenger flow at airports and studying ways to improve safety at railway crossings. At the same time, there is also the idea of developing an Integrated Transport Command Center to link data across road, rail, water and air transport, as well as exchanging communications technology data for future railway systems, or FRMCS, and approaches to applying 5G technology to transport systems. The ministry will consider these based primarily on standards, safety, suitability with existing systems, and the value of the investment. The Ministry of Transport and Huawei are currently preparing a framework for cooperation in information and communications technology covering five main areas: developing ICT personnel, upgrading digital infrastructure, applying digital technology in the transport sector, improving the efficiency of administration and data integration, and promoting innovation and research. The details of projects under the cooperation framework will need to be studied jointly in each area.

Belgian Road-Safety Group Finds Tesla FSD Misread Speed Limits in Brussels Tests
Belgian road-safety group Johanna.be said Tesla's Full Self-Driving system exceeded the legal speed limit in 55% of tested 30-km/h road segments in Brussels and repeatedly attempted to overtake cyclists where the maneuver is prohibited. The group tested FSD over about 400 kilometers across three days in July, focusing on 30 km/h zones, residential areas, and cycle streets, and found the system averaged 44 km/h in the tested 30-km/h segments where it exceeded the limit, while also exceeding the 20 km/h limit in 42% of tested residential areas. Johanna.be said FSD often recognized 30-km/h signs but then displayed a 50-km/h limit to the supervising driver, describing it as akin to a passenger constantly reassuring the driver that the speed limit is 50 km/h in nearly every 30-zone through which they pass. The group said the system generally behaved cautiously around pedestrians and cyclists and often yielded proactively, despite the rule violations documented during the tests. The NGO submitted its findings to Dutch regulator RDW and the Flemish transportation ministry on September 7, urging them to reassess Tesla's approvals, with the report published ahead of an EU vote on wider approval of FSD currently planned for October 6.
