US monetary authority sold euros to buy yen, weakening the euro versus the dollar.
European Central Bank President Lagarde revealed at a press conference in Berlin on the 10th that the US monetary authority's yen-buying, euro-selling foreign exchange intervention conducted on July 31 amounted to 500 million euros, or roughly 90 billion yen. When asked about the US monetary authority's foreign exchange intervention, President Lagarde said, "I will not comment," while adding, "I have confirmed that 500 million euros were sold and yen was purchased."
