Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company LimitedElectrical system failure on MRT tracks forced suspension of Bang O–Kamphaeng Phet services, disrupting BEM's metro operations.

A fire broke out on the MRT rail tracks near Tao Poon station on Pracharat Sai 2 Road, Bang Sue subdistrict, Bang Sue district, Bangkok, prompting authorities to rush to bring the situation under control and evacuate passengers from the area. Kajphachon Udomthamphakdi, governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, or MRTA, said the preliminary cause was that the current along the power rail carried unusually high moisture because of the rainy weather, which may have caused a short circuit, though a detailed investigation into the cause is still under way. Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to inspect the area and brought in smoke ventilation equipment, and all passengers have been evacuated from the area. Meanwhile, Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited, or BEM, said that because of the electrical system failure, MRT services were temporarily suspended from Bang O station to Kamphaeng Phet station, and advised passengers to use nearby stations instead. The incident delayed travel at some stations by about 60 minutes. The MRTA and related agencies are inspecting the system and the cause of the incident to assess safety before resuming normal services.
