Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited has welcomed the launch of four exchange traded funds tracking three of its cross-market indices this month, marking the first investment products based on those benchmarks. The ETFs track the HKEX Bursa Malaysia Large Cap Index, the HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index, and the HKEX Tech & US Tech 100 Index, all launched earlier this year, with the first two introduced as co-branded partnerships with Bursa Malaysia Berhad and Korea Exchange. The listings comprise Bosera HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF, code 3516, on 24 September; Huatai-PCG HKEX KRX Semiconductor Index ETF, code 3569, on 28 September; GF HKEX Tech & US Tech 100 Index ETF, codes 3599, 83599 and 41599, on 28 September; and Da Cheng Galaxy HKEX Bursa Malaysia Large Cap ETF, code 3143, on 28 September. HKEX Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Y Chan said the launch marks an important step in connecting Hong Kong with international markets, while Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Dato' Fad'l Mohamed noted the index brings together 30 leading listed companies each from Malaysia and Hong Kong. The three cross-market benchmarks adopt a 60/40 weighting design, with approximately 60 per cent allocated to Hong Kong-listed securities and 40 per cent to overseas securities, intended to support potential inclusion of the ETFs in Southbound Stock Connect.
