JPMorgan Chase & CoJPMorgan's investment banking co-head says dealmaking is on track for a record year with M&A, IPO and debt issuance volumes surging, boosting its advisory/underwriting business.

JPMorgan's global investment banking co-head Dorothee Blessing said dealmaking remains on track for a record year, with global M&A volume reaching 4 trillion dollars year to date. More than 50 mega deals above 10 billion dollars have been struck globally, and cross-border deals are up almost 49% year over year, while IPO issuance has risen more than 250% year over year and investment grade debt capital markets activity is up more than 30%. In India, Blessing said the bank holds an 8.5% market share across the region, and expects 60 to 65 billion dollars in IPO issuance alone, after roughly 100 billion dollars of M&A volume in the first half. She flagged inflation, higher energy prices, geopolitical tension and rates as the key risks, and said technology, AI, healthcare, diversified industrials and financial institutions should stay active sectors over the next three to six months.
