Summary · why it matters

Lucid Group is recalling 27,185 of its Air luxury sedans in the U.S. because an exterior lighting circuit could overheat and raise the risk of fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall is Lucid's largest ever, covering more cars than it delivered in all of 2025, when it handed over 15,841 vehicles. NHTSA advised owners to park outside and away from structures until a fix is deployed, noting the overheating circuit could also knock out exterior lighting, increasing crash risk. Lucid has released a free over-the-air software update, and 20,719 of the affected vehicles had already received it before the announcement. This recall follows a May recall of 2,039 vehicles over lost drive power and a January recall of more than 10,000 vehicles over rearview camera problems.
