Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with leading US funds at an event organised by Jefferies Group LLC to invite them to invest in Thailand. The Prime Minister said investors launching new projects do not need to build a new business ecosystem from scratch, because Thailand already has manufacturing bases, industrial clusters, transport systems and supplier networks ready to support it as a business hub in Southeast Asia. The Prime Minister noted that Thailand is part of the growing global AI infrastructure supply chain, where demand for data storage systems, fast data transmission, stable power systems and digital infrastructure represents an opportunity to draw value-added economic activity into the country. Meanwhile, the Thai economy remains stable thanks to strong international reserves and public debt that stays within the legal ceiling. The Prime Minister disclosed that in the first half of the year, foreign investment promotion applications reached 1.37 trillion baht, up 80% from the same period a year earlier. He also stressed that the government welcomes investment in data centres but is reviewing the criteria to attract suitable projects that deliver long-term economic benefits, with the government's role being to help turn such opportunities into real business for sustainable growth.
