Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said Turkish authorities detained 15 suspects and ordered the seizure of assets linked to several financial companies today, the latest wave of an investigation into suspected stock market manipulation. Gurlek said via X that legal proceedings have been launched against a total of 25 suspects linked to shares of Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman, a Turkish savings and finance company. Officials have detained 15 of them and are pursuing the remaining 10 suspects. As part of the financial tracing, authorities ordered transactions frozen and assets seized in connection with executives and officials of nine investment firms and fund management companies. The detentions came after authorities widened their investigation into suspected market manipulation following heavy selling on the Istanbul stock exchange last week. The BIST 100 index fell more than 7.5% during trading on Wednesday, September 16. Earlier, authorities detained nine fund managers as part of the investigation.
