Palantir Technologies Inc.The White House is considering an executive order that would create a federal incubator focused on cybersecurity research and potentially spawn startups building cyber platforms for government use, according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter. The order is being drafted by the White House's Office of the National Cyber Director, and the research would align with government goals while seeking to attract venture capital funding, creating a type of "cyber foundry" that could lead to new companies. Insiders said the approach resembles Israel's model, where military concerns are aligned with cybersecurity startups, academic research and venture capital investment, and it is also similar to the Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which has invested in national-security technology since the late 1950s. The proposal comes amid rising AI-related cybersecurity risks, but the government has struggled to attract and retain top tech talent, with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency losing more than a third of its employees last year alone. Palantir CEO Alexander Karp, writing in "The Technological Republic" with co-author Nicholas Zamiska, noted that the vast majority of engineers today would rather work in the lucrative private sector developing consumer apps and digital marketing algorithms.
