สมาคมประกันวินาศภัยไทยขานรับมติคณะรัฐมนตรีที่เห็นชอบในหลักการจัดให้มีระบบประกันภัยพิบัติแห่งชาติ โดยมีบริษัทประกันวินาศภัย 11 บริษัทเข้าร่วมโครงการกับสมาคมฯ และภาครัฐ กำหนดกรอบวงเงินค่าเบี้ยประกันภัยรวม 15,500 ล้านบาท แบ่งเป็นกรมธรรม์ประกันภัยที่อยู่อาศัยกลุ่มฯ 15,000 ล้านบาท และกรมธรรม์ประกันภัยอุบัติเหตุกลุ่มฯ 500 ล้านบาท ระบบนี้จะช่วยสร้างหลักประกันให้ประชาชนประมาณ 30 ล้านหลังคาเรือนทั่วประเทศ บริษัทหลักทรัพย์ ดีบีเอส วิคเคอร์ส (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด ประเมินว่าเป็นข่าวบวกต่ออุตสาหกรรมประกันภัย เพราะจะมีเม็ดเงินเบี้ยประกันภัยก้อนใหญ่เข้าสู่ระบบราว 15,500 ล้านบาท คิดเป็น 5.3% ของเบี้ยประกันวินาศภัยทั้งหมด โดยในปี 2025 อุตสาหกรรมมีมูลค่าเบี้ยประกันภัยรับตรงทั้งหมด 969,221 ล้านบาท แบ่งเป็นเบี้ยธุรกิจประกันชีวิต 676,436 ล้านบาท และเบี้ยธุรกิจประกันวินาศภัย 292,785 ล้านบาท ทั้งยังกระตุ้นธุรกิจรับประกันภัยต่อ ขยายฐานลูกค้าประกันในอนาคต และเปลี่ยนผ่านสู่ Public-Private Partnership (PPP) ที่ยั่งยืน สำหรับ 11 บริษัทที่เข้าร่วม ได้แก่ กรุงเทพประกันภัย กรุงไทยพานิชประกันภัย คุ้มภัยโตเกียวมารีนประกันภัย (ประเทศไทย) ทิพยประกันภัย ไทยไพบูลย์ประกันภัย ประกันภัยไทยวิวัฒน์ ฟอลคอนประกันภัย เมืองไทยประกันภัย วิริยะประกันภัย เอ็ม เอส ไอ จี ประกันภัย (ประเทศไทย) และไอแคร์ ประกันภัย
