Its products include interchangeable lenses for mirrorless and DSLR cameras, network surveillance camera lenses, FA and machine vision lenses, teleconferencing lenses, camera modules, automotive camera and drone lenses, medical devices, optical device units, and lenses for compact digital cameras and video cameras. The company was formerly known as Taisei Optical Equipment Manufacturing Inc. and changed its name to Tamron Co., Ltd. in April 1970. Incorporated in 1948, it is headquartered in Saitama, Japan.

Tamron Announces Receipt of Acquisition Proposal from Sony Group for Full Subsidiary Status

Lens maker Tamron disclosed on the 30th that it has received a non-binding proposal from Sony Group aimed at making it a wholly owned subsidiary. In response to the proposal, the company has established a special committee and is exploring various options to enhance corporate value. Sony Group has also acknowledged the acquisition proposal. The online edition of business magazine Diamond reported on the 29th that the acquisition amount is likely to be around 200 billion yen.
