PREB Revises Strategy to Cope with Cost Volatility, Bids for 3 Billion Baht in New Projects

Pre-Built Public Company Limited, or PREB, has overhauled the management approach for its construction contracting business group to cope with volatility in oil and construction material prices. Chief Executive Officer Wirot Charoentra disclosed that for new projects to be developed going forward, if they are long-term projects, the company will assess costs in advance, or set a cost buffer, from the pricing stage, and negotiate with customers to reflect true costs should volatility prove more severe than expected. For work already secured and under way, the company currently has a backlog worth more than 9 billion baht, which is expected to be recognised continuously over roughly the next two years and six months, and the company has negotiated with suppliers to lock in construction material prices. At the same time, the company plans to bid for new projects and is awaiting the results of several more tender submissions, representing a combined project value of approximately 3 billion baht. About 90% of revenue still comes from the construction contracting business of the parent company, together with the construction materials distribution business, namely the production and sale of precast concrete slabs, or Precast, and glass fibre reinforced concrete. As for the operating performance outlook in 2026, the company expects it to be flat or close to the previous year, when revenue was approximately 54 billion baht.
