Aris Mining has completed the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for its Soto Norte gold-copper project in Santander, Colombia, and in 2026 began formal community engagement across three municipalities ahead of submitting the ESIA and environmental license application. The company said Soto Norte lies outside the Santurbán Páramo and its buffer zone, and it aligned the ESIA and consultation process with Colombia's regulatory framework and the Escazú Agreement. The milestone follows the ANM's July 29, 2026 approval of the modified technical mine plan for Soto Norte, which confirmed regulators have reviewed the project's geology, reserves and mine design but does not replace the need for an environmental license before construction or mining can begin. Aris Mining's narrative projects $2.2 billion revenue and $688.8 million earnings by 2029, requiring 19.9% yearly revenue growth and a $404.1 million earnings increase from $284.7 million today, with a CA$41.53 fair value implying 66% upside. Some of the lowest estimate analysts had assumed about US$2.0 billion of revenue and US$797.7 million of earnings by 2029 while still citing Soto Norte's lengthy permitting and heavy ESG commitments as reasons for caution.
Aris Mining completed the Soto Norte ESIA and began formal community engagement, advancing the project toward the required environmental license under Colombia's regulatory framework.
Pan American Silver Plans $40-$43 Million 2026 Timmins Capital, $146 Million Camp Project
Pan American Silver Corp. estimates 2026 project capital of $40-$43 million for its Timmins operation in Ontario, where it expects to produce 105.5-115 thousand ounces of gold at an estimated AISC of $2,575-$2,675 per ounce. The Timmins operations consist of the Timmins West and Bell Creek underground gold mines, which supply ore to the Bell Creek processing plant with a design capacity of 5,600 tons per day and current throughput of 4,400 tons per day. Timmins produced 103.6 thousand ounces of gold in 2025 at an AISC of $2,443 per ounce, and the company plans to drill 118,000 meters at Timmins in 2026. In June 2026, Pan American Silver identified mineral resources at the Bell Creek mine and satellite deposits, and it is proceeding with a conceptual plan for phased development of these new resources. The company has commenced the first phase of the Timmins Camp Project following board approval and a total investment of $146 million.

OceanaGold reported new drilling results from its Wharekirauponga project in New Zealand in late September 2026, highlighting multiple wide, high-grade gold intercepts that reinforce the continuity of the southern high-grade EG Vein and associated hanging-wall structures. Drilling has accelerated with five active rigs, and promising intercepts outside the current resource model point to a potentially larger, better-defined mineralized system that could influence future resource classification and project planning. The company's narrative projects $2.2 billion in revenue and $764.2 million in earnings by 2028, requiring 12.7% yearly revenue growth and a $388.4 million earnings increase from $375.8 million today. The update comes as OceanaGold plans the April 2027 retirement of CEO Gerard Bond, who is set to stay on as a Special Advisor for six months. Before this Wharekirauponga update, the most pessimistic analysts were still penciling in about US$2.6 billion of revenue and US$1.4 billion of earnings by 2029.

Coeur Mining Sets Record US$158 Million 2026 Exploration Budget
Coeur Mining outlined a record US$158 million exploration program for 2026, with US$24 million allocated to New Afton and US$18 million to Rainy River in Canada. The company reported past exploration results showing extended mineralization and higher-than-expected gold and copper intercepts at its New Afton K-Zone and East Picrite Trend, alongside growth-focused drilling across underground and near-surface targets at Rainy River. The record budget underscores how aggressively Coeur is pursuing potential resource growth and mine-life extension, sharpening the tension between funding aggressive drilling and managing cash flow. The step-up in exploration follows Coeur's move into shareholder returns with a new dividend and a large buyback authorization in early 2026, a balance the company is trying to strike between capital returns and a sizable spend on potential resource growth. Coeur's narrative projects US$5.1 billion in revenue and US$1.5 billion in earnings by 2029, yielding a US$23.95 fair value and 36% upside to its current price, while some of the lowest ranked analysts project about US$5.4 billion of revenue and US$1.9 billion of earnings by 2029 and may now see the exploration push as increasing execution and cost risk.
Tanzania Renews Barrick North Mara Mining Licenses for 15 Years
The Government of Tanzania has renewed the Special Mining Licenses for Barrick Mining Corporation's North Mara Gold Mine for another 15 years, the company announced. The renewal allows North Mara to keep investing in the mine, its people, and its communities for the long term. Since Barrick took over operations in 2019, Tanzanian nationals have come to make up 96% of the workforce of approximately 3,000 in the country, with 47% drawn from communities surrounding the mines. Barrick has injected approximately $5.3 billion into the Tanzanian economy since 2019, including $1.2 billion in 2025 alone through taxes, royalties, salaries, dividends and local procurement, while more than 90% of procurement is sourced from Tanzanian registered companies. Barrick and the Government of Tanzania established Twiga Minerals in 2019 to operate the North Mara and Bulyanhulu mines together, with the Government holding a 16% interest in each mine and the two partners splitting the economic benefits equally.
