GULFことガルフ・ディベロップメントは、チェンマイのコミュニティ廃棄物発電所「チェンマイ・ウェイスト・トゥ・エナジー」の商業運転を2026年10月1日に開始し、地方電力公社の系統への送電を予定通り行った。GULFの最高財務責任者であるユパピン・ワンワウィワット氏によると、このプロジェクトはGULFがガルフ・ウェイスト・トゥ・エナジー・ホールディングスを通じて間接的に99.23パーセントの株式を保有する子会社、チェンマイ・ウェイスト・トゥ・エナジーが実施している。本プロジェクトは非常に小規模な発電事業者に分類されるコミュニティ廃棄物発電所で、契約上の発電出力は8.0メガワット、設備容量は9.5メガワット。チェンマイ県ドーサケット郡に位置し、20年間の電力売買契約に基づいて地方電力公社に電力を販売する。このプロジェクトにより、埋め立てが必要な廃棄物の量が削減され、チェンマイ県で新たな埋め立て用地を確保する必要性も軽減されるほか、クリーンエネルギーと効率的な廃棄物管理に関する政府政策を支援し、循環型経済の考え方に合致するとともに、低炭素社会への移行を促進する。
